He is a Professor in Laboratory for Integrated Technology of “Urban and Rural Mines” Exploitation, Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Prof. Yuan has been engaged in the theory and technology development on WtE, especially in recovering energy and resources from municipal solid wastes, and his main interests include chemical and thermochemical conversions of combustible solid wastes, bio-conversion of organic wastes, the related technology and equipment development.
He has coordinated or worked as P.I. for more than 20 scientific projects, including those very competitive projects funded by the governments, for example the Youth and General Projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation (NNSF) of China, the Special Youth Project on Apparatus R&D funded by Chinese Academy of Sciences, the State Science and Technology Support Project, etc. He has published 73 papers in international journals and has 13 Chinese patents. He had the honor to win the Second Prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award in 2011, “Pearl River Science and Technology Nova” in 2013, “Guangdong Province Special Support Plan-Science and Technology Innovation Top-Notch Personnel” and the membership of “Youth Innovation Promotion Association” in 2014.
