DETRITUS IS NOW A FULLY OPEN ACCESS JOURNAL
As of today, all content published in Detritus – past, present and future – is freely and permanently available online, with no subscription fees or access barriers. This transition reflects our commitment to the principles of Open Science and our mission to maximize the visibility, accessibility and impact of scientific research.
The journal’s new publishing model is supported through Institutional Open Access Agreements with Universities and Research Institutions. By joining the initiative, participating institutions enable their affiliated researchers to publish in Detritus without Article Processing Charges (APCs), while contributing to the long-term sustainability of an independent scientific journal and supporting its future transition to Diamond Open Access.
Since its launch in 2018, Detritus has been dedicated to promoting the widest possible dissemination of scientific knowledge in the fields of Circular Economy and Sustainable Residue Management. Originally conceived as a “Double Open” initiative – free for both readers and authors – the journal temporarily adopted a subscription-based model in 2023 to ensure the sustainability of its editorial activities.
Today, Detritus returns to its original vision of open and accessible scientific publishing through a sustainable model based on institutional support.
DETRITUS FOR READERS
Detritus provides immediate, permanent and unrestricted access to its entire collection of published articles. All content is freely available to readers worldwide, with no subscription fees or access barriers, maximizing the visibility, dissemination and impact of scientific research.
DETRITUS FOR AUTHORS
Manuscripts may be submitted free of charge. For accepted articles, Detritus applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) of €500 + VAT (where applicable) – one of the lowest APCs among international journals in the field. This contribution supports editorial management, peer review, production and the long-term preservation and dissemination of published research. Submit your article
Authors affiliated with Universities and Research Institutions participating in the Detritus Institutional Open Access Agreement are entitled to a full APC waiver, enabling an unlimited number of affiliated researchers to publish in Detritus without any publication charges.
The standard annual contribution for the Institutional Open Access Agreement is €1,000 + VAT, providing institutions with unlimited APC waivers for all their affiliated authors.
