After his B.Sc. Engg.(1986) degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Professor Alamgir joined in the Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), Khulna, Bangladesh as a Lecturer of Civil Engineering in 1986 and became Professor in 2002.
He completed M.Sc. Engg.(1989) from BUET and Ph.D. (1996) & JSPS Post Doctoral Fellowship (1996-1998) from Saga University, Japan.
His research areas cover Solid Waste & Faecal Sludge Management, Sanitary Landfill, Composting, Geo-environmental Engineering Problems, Soft Soil Engineering and Climate change. Several post-graduate students completed their research works under his supervision.
He successfully completed several research projects funded Government of Bangladesh and European commission under its Asia Link, Asia Pro Eco and 7th Frame Work Programme.
About 226 technical papers written by him were published in Seminar, Conference and Journal proceedings.
He also Edited/contributed in 2 Books and 5 Seminar Proceedings, 2 Regional and 6 National Workshop’s Handouts and 5 International Conference Proceedings.
