After graduation (Dipl.-Ing.) in Civil Engineering and Environmental Technologies at Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) he received his PhD from the same University in the year 2005. Between 2005 and 2009 he worked as postdoc at the Institute of Environmental Technology and Energy Economics and was assistant professor for biological waste management and landfilling.
Since 2009 he is project manager at TuTech Innovation GmbH where he conducted and coordinated a couple of R&D projects on national and international level.
He served as a consultant of new CDM methodologies for the UNFCCC and he was associate professor for waste resources management at Perm National Research Polytechnic University, Russia in 2016/17.
Marco Ritzkowski is leader of the task group on landfill aeration of the IWWG (International Waste Working Group) since 2008 and since 2012 he is Managing Director of the same association.
He serves as member of the Editorial Board of Waste Management journal (published by Elsevier) and he is author and co-author of more than 100 scientific publications in peer-reviewed and non-reviewed journals, national and international conference proceedings and textbooks.
