Arcoplan is an architectural and engineering consultancy, located in Padova, active in the fields of architecture, landscape, environment, engineering and technical architecture.
Founded in 2009 by Anna Artuso, architect, and Elena Cossu, civil engineer, Arcoplan has developed specific expertise in architectural aspects connected to Waste Management interventions aimed at the development of the concept of Waste Architecture.

Anna Artuso studied at the University of Architecture of Venice (IUAV), gaining her degree in Architecture in 2002. From 2003 to 2012, she worked in a prestigious professional consultancy in Padova, where she dealt with planning and construction management of projects of different natures, such as buildings renovations, new constructions, conservative restorations, urban and landscape interventions.
Elena Cossu graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Cagliari in 2002. In 2007 she became Doctor in Landscape and Territory Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Bologna, with a doctoral thesis on the sustainability of urban space in relation to waste collection systems.

Since 2009 they have shared ideas and projects, in order to develop a specific project area: architecture for the environment and, more specifically, the architecture of major works related to Waste Management. They have developed studies and projects for the functional requalification of old and new landfill sites, remediation of degraded land, buildings for waste pretreatment, composting plants and transfer stations, urban models of sustainable management of waste collection, and reuse centres.

In 2015 they founded Waste Architecture Platform, a complex project conceived as a container of initiatives devoted to Waste & Architecture with the aim of developing a new and relatively unexplored conceptual and design topic, by means of a series of initiatives involving environmental professionals and architecture, and urban and landscape design experts in the framework of seminars, round tables, design workshops, publications, etc.

Arcoplan also strives to disseminate the above topics by collaborating to the organization of scientific conferences connected to the research activities carried out by the University of Padova in the field of environmental engineering.
