Liangtong Tony Zhan

Dr. Zhan obtained his bachelor degree in hydrogeology from Hohai University in 1995, and PhD degree in geotechnical engineering from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2003.
He is a full professor in School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Zhejiang University, and deputy director of MOE Key Laboratory on Soft Soils and Geoenvironmental Engineering.
His main research area is geoenvironmental engineering, particularly waste mechanics and landfilling, landfill barrier and cover, geotechnical reuse of construction wastes etc.
He is principal investigator of one National Basic Research Program of China, four Natural Science Foundation of China and several important consultant projects related to waste landfills.
He has published over 120 papers, including 50 peer-reviewed international journal papers. One of his papers published in Canadian Geotechnical Journal was selected as Honorable Mention for the R.M. Quigley Award by Canadian Geotechnical Society in 2008.
He is an editorial board member of two international journals, i.e., Geotextiles & Geomembranes and Canadian Geotechnical Journal.
