On the 1st December 2021 “The Normality of Industrial and Commercial Waste: Economic, Technical and Organisational Barriers to Waste Prevention” published by Anette Svingstedt, Hervé Corvellec, and Emma Samsioe in Volume 13/ December 2020 of Detritus Journal, has been awarded an honourable mention by Recycling, the leading trade journal in recycling and waste management in Sweden.
Hervé Corvellec and his fellow researchers from the University of Lund University were awarded an honourable mention for their study on waste prevention in various industries.
It demonstrates that a change in the rules is necessary and that we must move from considering prevention as cumbersome and waste as normal, to seeing prevention as a business benefit and a normal approach to waste, which is exactly the claim at the end of the paper.
The jury consisted of Peter Olofsson, editor-in-chief of Recycling, Viveke Ihd from Återvinningsindustrierna, Jon Nilsson-Djerf from Avfall Sverige, Jan Peter Bergkvist from Sleepwell and Jan-Olov Sundqvist from IVL Svenska Miljöinstitutet (who unfortunately could not attend this year’s gala).
